Everyone should be able to carpentry. Not everyone has to be good at it and it doesn't have to be neat but being able to put a few pieces of wood together into something that looks like and works like a piece of furniture should be a basic knowledge.

Finn Ahlgren's artistry revolves around aesthetics, status and morality. He uses only recycled materials that are often regarded as useless, and he is happy to work with furniture design because within design there are clear and often common opinions about what is right and wrong, fine and ugly.

Finn Ahlgren is a trained carpenter with a degree in furniture design and interior architecture from Konstfack. Ahlgren is currently one of the 2024 Bruno Mathsson Prize winners.
