The picture shows the exhibition with 2020 year's Bruno Mathsson Prize winner Chris Martin.
Super Normal describes two aspects of design. Super as in supremely radiant. Normal as in deliberately good, durable and functional. Chris Martin unites both in his innovative furniture design.

On the walls in this Gallery, you can currently see sketches and a new film about the winner of the Bruno Mathsson Prize 2020, Chris Martin. The Bruno Mathsson Prize is handed out annually since 1984 and is the largest design prize in the Nordic region with a prize sum of 250 000 SEK.

Chris Martin started his career as an assistant to Jasper Morrison in London. Collaborations with Thomas Eriksson and Thomas Sandell lured him to Sweden in 1995, where the main task was to design furniture for different clients. In this new environment, Chris Martin and Magnus Elebäck found each other. The friendship grew and in 1999 they decided to start their own business. A wish to work independently from other producers was developed gradually, and in 2009 they launched Massproductions, an operation where they today are in charge of the design as well as the manufacturing, distribution and marketing. Through this all-encompassing approach, the aim is to create timeless good design with maximum knowledge of materials and techniques, with sustainability in all aspects.

The breakthrough was the wire chair Tio with a clear identity and a visual lightness. After that, a large amount of furniture with strong dimensions and a self-evident aura has been created, such as the stool Odette for the Stockholm airport Arlanda, the conference table Landa, and the sofa Roadie that transparently delineates rooms in environments defined by the freedom of nature.

Chris Martin (b. 1970) has an MA from Royal College of Art in London. He has individually or as a part of Massproductions received numerous prizes, including Guldstolen, Residence Stora Formpris, Rum Awards, Elle Decoration Awards, and Editors’ Choice Awards. He is represented in the collections of Nationalmuseum and Möbeldesignmuseum, Stockholm.
