The picture shows a work by Maria Hall displayed in the exhibition Reflection.
A world of undeniable beauty, into the tiniest blade of grass. A beauty by no means flattering, with both romantic and scientific overtones.

In drawing as painting, Maria Hall conjures up a world of experience we would probably otherwise miss out on. The sheer and the inconspicuous take on new dimensions - become urgent and inalienable. The motifs are usually taken from nature but provide insights into places we would not find ourselves.

In Hall's oil paintings on canvas and panel, we are allowed to make our own discoveries. In the process, we can get to know both ourselves and possibly the artist. Responsiveness gets its reward. Having said that, it is nevertheless a challenge to allow oneself to be enveloped in her painting.

Hall's painting is a world of undeniable beauty, into the tiniest blade of grass: of both vigor and fragility. A beauty by no means flattering, with both romantic and scientific overtones. There is a fingertip feel that means nothing, by an artist of respectful integrity.

Maria Hall was born in Gothenburg in 1964 and is currently based in Stockholm. She was educated at the Royal Academy of Arts and the Valand Academy of Fine Arts. Today she is represented in the collections of Göteborgs Konstmuseum, Kalmar Konstmuseum and Statens Arts Council. She has previously had exhibitions at Dunkers Kulturhus, Kristianstads Konsthall, Kalmar Art Museum and Göteborgs Konstmuseum.

The exhibition is created in collaboration between Vandalorum and the Småland Art Archive.
