Create a basket using different techniques in willow braiding with British designer Alice Kettle

Learn how to braid a basket using various traditional basket braiding techniques. During the day, you will develop your understanding of how to prepare and select the right willow rods for basket making and you will also be able to do your own basket! The course is suitable for beginners.

Participants need to bring

• A sharp secateur

• A small pallet or wooden box, approximately 25 cm high x 25 cm long x 20 cm wide (for weaving on).

There will also be tools to borrow on site.

Cost: 1050 kr (950 kr for Vandalorum Friends). Materials for the workshop, lunch and afternoon coffee are included. Please indicate any allergies or special dietary requirements when registering.

Alice is a British designer/craftsman, who has worked with willow for the past five years in Sweden, creating large-scale installations and sculptures that invite unexpected encounters with nature. She is educated at the Edinburgh College of Art and HDK-Valand. After completing an assistant position with master arrow-weaver Annemarie O'Sullivan in 2023, she continues to teach and explore the craft of basket weaving using locally sourced materials.
